I am Tam Hong Yau Owen, currently studying at the Hong Kong Design Institute, pursuing a Higher Diploma in Furniture and Lifestyle Product Design. I have a deep appreciation for how design shapes our everyday lives, and I am passionate about creating functional yet aesthetically pleasing products that bring joy and convenience to people.
While I may not have a specific hobby directly related to furniture design, I enjoy exploring platforms like Pinterest, Behance, and Cosmos to study different design styles and innovative ideas. This habit has helped me develop a broader perspective on design trends and aesthetics, which I often draw upon when creating my work.
One of the most memorable experiences during my studies was participating in a design project to design trophies for a scholarship award ceremony. Unlike traditional trophies, this project did not have a predefined theme, so I took the initiative to create one. I chose the ginkgo leaf as the central motif for all four trophy designs, symbolizing longevity, wisdom, and eternity. By incorporating this theme, I aimed to express my heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to both the award recipients and the presenters. Using metal casting techniques, I transformed the symbolic ginkgo leaves into tangible trophies that conveyed beauty and meaning. This experience taught me how to integrate storytelling into my designs, ensuring that every detail serves a purpose and resonates with the audience.
I believe that my strengths lie in my ability to pay close attention to detail and my passion for exploring different materials and techniques. Additionally, I enjoy collaborating with team members, listening to their ideas, and combining our strengths to achieve the best results.

Recently, I enrolled in the National Putonghua Proficiency Test (PSC) to enhance my Mandarin language skills.
